Part of

World Guiding

For Thinking Day 2008 our District Brownies and Guides got

together to celebrate with an African themed evening, we

learned about and guiding in Africa and across the world and

about African culture.

The badge shown on the World Guiding badge is the World Badge,

we coloured this and learned about the meaning of each part of the

badge and that this is only badge that any member of guiding can wear,

in all age groups and all over the world this badge is the same.

We learned which countries in Africa have Brownies and Guides by matching the countries to a map, we also made friendship circles to show some of their uniforms.

We learned about African culture too, we made African Masks, bracelets, fruit kebabs and sand paper cave pictures. We also played some African games and we lucky enough to have a friend of our District Commissioner bring some African drums and teach us to play them.

It was brilliant fun and a great chance to get together with our friends at 1st and 2nd Southcote Brownies and 1st Calcot Guides.
